Sounds scary?of course they are! These are the deseases anyone who smokes is likely to get.

Avoiding the dangers of smoking cigarettes is critical to your survival in this day and age. Here are some well established but shocking smoking statistics, that i came across in some magazine i was reading, about the know hazards of smoking:

There are more than 4,000 chemicals in cigarette smoke, including 43 known cancer causing (carcinogenic) compounds and 400 other toxins.

The soot, tar, gases, in cigarette smoke harm your body over a period of time.

Smoking accounts for more than 30% of all deaths from cancer and almost 90 % if deaths from lung cancer.

About 75% of deaths from chronic bronchitis and emphysema are attributed to smoking.

There is no doubt that smoking is a global health problem. But the surveys have proved that smokers are not ignorant to the injurious effects of their habit, yet they cannot overcome their addiction.
The US Environmental Protection Agency has classified environmental tobacco smoke as a Class A carcinogen along with asbestos, arsenic, benzene and radon gas.
So, still think smoking is cool?

The Sanskrit alphabet is called “devanagari” and literally means “cities of the gods”. Rishis discovered Sanskrit and used it to create the mantras. These mantras were made up of a combination of sound vibrations, which when recited had a specific effect on the mind and the psyche. In the times of the Rishis, the main aim was to attain the truth, and Sanskrit - the perfect tool was found to be the best medium. Due to its specificity and purity, this seemed the best language with which to understand God’s creation and as such is called “the great spiritual anguage of the world”.

Sanskrit is the oldest language in the world. Sanskrit literature is easily the richest literature in the history of mankind. The word Sanskrit literally means “Perfected Language” or “Language brought to formal perfection”. This is quite an appropriate name since NASA declared it to be “the only unambiguous language on the planet”.
Sanskrit is a scientific and systematic language. Its grammar is perfect and has attracted scholars worldwide.

Recently well-known linguists and computer-scientists have expressed the opinion that Sanskrit is the best language for use with computers. Sanskrit has a perfect grammar which has been explained to us by the world’s greatest grammarian Panini. Sanskrit is also the mother of all Indo-European languages and the big sister of Greek and Latin. It is the origin of all the Indian languages.

A mantra is an embodiment of a particular God or Goddess in the form of sound.

It is not a magic spell but a subtle form of the God or Goddess Himself or Herself. When a mantra is repeated with concentration of mind and the worshipper makes an effort to identify himself or herself with the worshipped, the power of the Gods comes to his help. Human power is thus supplemented by the divine power. A prayer is different from the repetition of a mantra. A prayer is a purely human effort. Prayers may be offered in any language and in any form.
But a mantra, being an embodiment of a God or Goddess in the form of a sound, has to be repeated in that form alone in which it first revealed itself (in the mind of a Rishi). It is not to be learnt from books, but from the living voice of a Guru who gives the Upadesha or initiation. Therefore, the more the worshipper advances in his/her japa (practice of repeating the mantra), more does he/she partake of the nature and wield the powers of the particular God or Goddess.

When checking out at the grocery store, you may think that the plastic bag you’re being offered is free. The truth, however, is that from the beginning of its life cycle, the plastic bag brings costs too great to ignore. The price is paid by our air, our oceans, wild animals, and even the human economy. Just look around and you’ll notice the bags are everywhere, they’re hanging in trees, floating on the side of the road, in the bay...everywhere.

Plastics do not biodegrade; no naturally occurring organisms can break down the polymers in plastic. Instead, plastic photodegrades: sunlight breaks the plastic down into smaller and smaller pieces until plastic dust remains.

Broken down plastic dust may be small, but can still be consumed by birds, fish, and sea turtles, and interferes with natural ecosystems. In the central North Pacific, researchers have found six pounds of degraded plastic for every one pound of surface zooplankton.

There is only one way out from the damage that we have caused to the environment, purchase sturdy, environmentally friendly, reusable bags. Scale back the role plastic bags play in your life.
Do some thing before our children face a day when birds and turttles are historical animals, like dinosaures are for now.

A major study into the safety of mobile phones has concluded that they may affect the health of people who use them.
Research carried out by scientists in Finland suggests radiation from mobile phones causes changes in the brain.
It is the first time that scientists have looked at the effects of mobile phone radiation on human cells rather than those of rats.
The two-year study concluded that even low-level emissions from handsets are damaging.

Scientists from the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority found that exposing human cells to mobile phone radiation damaged the blood-brain barrier a safety barrier in the body that stops harmful substances in blood from entering the brain.

They discovered that the exposure caused the cells in blood vessel walls to shrink which enabled molecules to pass into brain tissue.
now next time you decide to talk to your boue, give yourself a second to think how healthy you will be when you both get engaged.

The future is not somewhere we are going. It is something we are creating. Every day we do things that make some futures more probable and others less likely.

Global warming already disrupts millions of lives daily in the forms of destructive weather patterns and loss of habitat. What is already happening is only the tip of the melting iceberg, for it is our children and grandchildren who will suffer the greatest from the impacts of global warming. Hundreds of millions of people will be exposed to famine, water shortages, extreme weather conditions and a 20 - 30% loss of animal and plant species if we don’t reduce the rate of global warming and reduce GHG emissions. This article outlines some ways that you can act to help prevent the Earth’s atmosphere from warming further. While humankind has the ability to destroy the planet, we also have the capacity to protect and sustain it.

Reducing your carbon and greenhouse gas emissions will not only make your personal living space more sustainable but it will save you money in both the short and long term. Global warming is occurring more rapidly than it was originally expected to.Only forty years ago, the big worry was global cooling. Even if you remain a cynic, however, and believe that the majority of scientists are wrong, you’ll benefit from reduced pollution, a healthier lifestyle and increased savings from enacting these simple activities that will not reduce the quality of your life.

1. Recycle more.
2. Use compact fluorescent bulbs.
3. Fill the dishwasher. (run it only when it is fully loaded)
4. Use recycled paper.
5. Buy locally made and locally grown products.
6. Buy minimally packaged goods.
7. Replace old appliances and reduce reliance on them.
8. Unplug unused electronics.
